Session 1 - Designing the Business Process Dimensional Model and Physical Data Warehouse Database
In this session, you will learn critical factors relating to a data storage system or DW. We will go into details of the dimensional modeling techniques on design guidelines for facts, dimensions, and physical database design techniques and guidelines.
This session we will walkthrough:
Designing Dimensions and Facts
The Bus Matrix, Conformed Dimensions, and Drill Across
Slowly Changing Dimensions
Snowflaking
Session 2 - ETL System Physical Design
In this session, we are going to start developing ETL System for the Data Warehouse.
This session explains how to create SSIS packages and define the control flow and data flow objects , we will look at the various capabilities in SSIS for debugging packages during development and for dealing with errors during production execution, including execution logging.
This session we will walkthrough:
Data Extraction Models and Techniques
Master Packages and Child Packages
Data Staging, Transformation and Loading
Dimensions and Facts Processing
Session 3 - Designing and Implementing an ETL Framework
This session will describe the rationale for implementing a home-grown ETL framework and demonstrate the value that it provides. Critical functional features will be discussed. Architectural design as well key programmed components will be reviewed. A production implementation that leverages Sql, SSIS, ASP.Net, and SSRS will be referenced.
Session4 - Designing the Analysis Services OLAP Database
This session focuses on the OLAP functionality of SSAS, exploring the process of developing SSAS cubes and dimensions. We will discuss attribute and dimension relationships. You
will learn how to extend the Unified Dimensional Model (UDM) with KPIs, actions, translations, and perspectives.
This session we will walkthrough:
Designing the OLAP Cube Structure
Dimensions and Measures Design
Understanding MDX Syntax
Creating Calculations and KPI
Implementing Actions and Cube Perspectives
Cube Processing and Deployment
Session 5 - Developing Reporting System with SSRS
In this Session, you will learn how to create SSRS projects
and interactive reports in Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS).
you will learn some techniques for using parameters to let users interact with
reports. You will also learn how to enhance reports by using conditional formatting and how to extend SSRS features with custom code, either embedded in a report or made available to SSRS from a custom assembly.
This session we will walkthrough:
Creating SSRS Projects and Reports in BIDS
Using SSRS Expressions
Extending SSRS with Custom Assemblies
Deploying and Redeploying Reports in BIDS
Creating Report Schedules and Subscriptions
Session 6 - Creating formatted reports and dashboards using Excel's CUBE functions
In this Session, you will learn how to create interactive Excel reports and dashboards that are laid out and formatted exactly as you want them. Excel's CUBE functions can retrieve data from SSAS cubes and from PowerPivot but unlike PivotTables they don't have limitations on lay-out and formatting. This is a huge benefit for building reports that require a specific layout such as financial reports (e.g. a balance sheet) and highly structured management reports and dashboards. You will learn techniques to jump-start a cube formula report as well as make the report robust, maintainable and adaptable.
In this session we will walk through:
Creating a workbook connection to an external data source
Advantages of cube formula reports over PivotTables
Generating a quick cube formula report
Simplifying your report by using only one type of CUBE function
Tips/Tricks/Traps and enhancing your reports using everyday Excel functionality
Session 7 - Designing Custom BI Application and Interactive Dashboards
This session will explains how to develop: BI driven web application with Interactive Dashboard’s based on ASP.NET 4.0, SRSS and SSAS 2008 R2. To be used by all levels of management to monitor, analyze and control company business performance and activities.
